F. Daniel Hidalgo is an Associate Professor of Political Science (with tenure) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he has been a faculty member since 2012. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley in 2012 and his B.A. Magna cum Laude from Princeton University in 2002.
Research Expertise
Professor Hidalgo’s research focuses on comparative politics and political methodology, with particular expertise in:
- Electoral accountability and political representation
- Survey research methods and experimental design
- Digital recruitment strategies for hard-to-reach populations
- Latin American politics, with extensive fieldwork in Brazil
- Causal inference and quantitative methods
